Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Ledger Book mobile application (“Application” or “App”) provided by Generation Next (“Service Provider”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Summary
- We do not collect or sell your personal data to our servers. Your ledger data is stored locally on your device unless you export it yourself.
- Permissions (Contacts, Storage, Notifications, Alarms, etc.) are used strictly to provide app features like client import, reminders, and backup/restore.
- “All files access” (Android 11+) is used only to read/write user‑initiated backups from legacy/custom folders when restoring data.
- New features such as themes, transfer transactions, favorites list, advanced filtering, and Google Drive backup are designed to enhance your app experience while keeping your data local and secure.
New Features (Added in Latest Update)
- New Themes: Updated light and dark themes for better visual experience.
- Transfer Transactions: Ability to transfer amounts between accounts securely.
- Favorites List: Mark accounts as favorites for quick access.
- Payment Filters: Filter transactions by minimum and maximum amounts in All Payments view.
- Google Drive Backup: Optional secure backup of your ledger data (CSV files) to Google Drive. Your exported files are encrypted and stored only in your Google account; we do not access or store your data.
- Help & Guidance Screen: Provides detailed instructions on using all app features efficiently.
- Disclaimer: This Ledger app stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or share your financial information on any server. Please keep regular backups to protect against loss. If data is deleted due to device loss, damage, reset, software issues, or user error, the risk remains with the user. In such cases, the company, developers, and the app will not be responsible for any loss, liability, or damages arising from the unavailability of your data.
Information We Process
The App primarily operates offline and stores your data (accounts, transactions, notes, reminders) locally on your device’s storage. We do not transmit ledger data to our servers.
We do not collect precise location information.
If you contact us for support, we will receive the information you provide (e.g., email address, screenshots, logs you choose to share).
How We Use Permissions
The App requests permissions only to enable specific, user‑visible features:
- INTERNET: Required by Flutter runtime and third‑party libraries (e.g., for safe updates/resources). We do not use it to upload your ledger data.
- READ_CONTACTS / WRITE_CONTACTS: To let you import client names and phone numbers from your contacts into the App. We do not upload your contacts.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To show payment reminders and transaction notifications you set.
- USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT: To display critical full-screen reminders/alerts when you allow them.
- SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: To trigger due‑date reminders exactly at the scheduled time.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE: To run reminder/notification tasks reliably when necessary.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: To re‑schedule reminders after device restart.
- REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATION: Optional; to improve reliability of reminders if you choose to allow it.
- MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 11+): “All files access” used solely for user‑initiated backup and restore of the ledger database and exported files (CSV/PDF), especially from legacy/custom folders created by older app versions or other devices. We do not scan or collect unrelated files.
- READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (older Android): For backup/restore and exports on devices before scoped storage fully applies.
All Files Access (Android 11+)
Some users have legacy backups stored outside of the App’s sandbox (e.g., root “Download” or custom folders). To restore those backups, the App needs temporary, user‑initiated access to read your selected backup files and write the restored data. We confine operations to the files and folders you select and do not browse unrelated device files. Where possible, we use the Android Storage Access Framework (SAF) and app‑specific directories.
Data Exports and Backups
- You can export your data (e.g., CSV, PDF) and create backups to locations you choose, including Google Drive.
- You can restore from your backups at any time. The App reads only the files you select.
- We do not receive copies of your backups unless you explicitly send them to us for support.
Third‑Party Services
The App may rely on platform services and libraries (e.g., Flutter, Android, Google Drive) to function. If any third-party service is used, it complies with its own privacy policy. For example:
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by the App. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you to keep your device updated and protected (e.g., screen lock, encryption).
Data Retention and Deletion
- On‑device data: Stored locally and retained until you delete it, uninstall the App, or overwrite it during restore.
- Backups/exports: Saved in locations you choose, including Google Drive. You control and can delete them at any time.
- Support communications: Retained as needed to address your request and comply with applicable laws; contact us to request deletion.
Opt‑Out
You can stop all processing by uninstalling the App. You may also revoke granted permissions in your device settings; some features may stop working without the respective permissions.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page. Your continued use of the App means you accept the updated Policy.
